Weight bearing exercise such as walking
and jumping, balance exercises for fall prevention and
core strengthening was emphasized not only for the

Congresswoman, Cathy McMorris-Rodgers |
Congresswoman McMorris-Rodgers represents Eastern Washington's Fifth Congressional District and understands the importance of continued access to DXA Bone Density testing in the state of Washington. Deb Fertakis, ARNP writes, "We enjoyed representing the state of Washington and Dr. Kohlmeier's efforts in fighting fracture risk. It was a pleasure to meet our Representatvie Cathy McMorris-Rogers and tour our wonderful capital. We appreciated the leadership and support of the ISCD and Dr Kohlmeier in making the trip possible. We discussed the importance of increasing awareness of bone health with our legislators, focusing on early diagnosis by screening those at risk with DXA BMD tests, encouraging preventative lifestyle efforts with good calcium intake daily (a total of 1200 mg split up), dietary preferred, beginning in childhood and continued throughout life, along with vitamin D supplementation and exercise. |
